Camshaft, Crankshaft & Vibration Damper MCQs with Detailed Explanation

Exam-oriented questions from cam lobe offset, camshaft drive, crankshaft front-end parts and vibration damper for AMVI and Kerala PSC preparation.

Quick Notes

Important Revision Points

⚙️ Cam Lobe & Lifter Offset

A small offset between the cam lobe and lifter makes the lifter rotate during operation. This gives uniform wear of the lifter bottom.

🔩 Camshaft Gear Drive

Gear drive is used when the crankshaft and camshaft are very close to each other. The camshaft rotates at half the crankshaft speed.

🌀 Vibration Damper

The vibration damper is fixed at the front end of the crankshaft and reduces torsional vibrations and stress.
